How to soundproof against noisy neighbour?

Airborne noise are sound waves that travel by air, such as music and voices. Some examples of airborne noise coming from a noisy neighbour are listening to loud music or tv, screaming kids or barking dogs. Soundproofing impact noise from a neighbour
Impact noise (or contact noise) is somewhat more complex to soundproof against. These are vibrations in matter that can travel via multiple walls and ceilings before becoming audible or even sensible in your home. The most common impact noise from a neighbour are: ticking noise of high heels, slamming doors, knocking sounds, washing machine etc. The best result to insulate impact noise is obtained by isolating the source that causes the problem. For example: to reduce impact noise, such as footstep or moving furniture, a decoupled or floating floor should be installed in the home of the neighbour causing the problem. This is most likely not going to happen, in an apartment or flat soundproofing the ceiling underneath the floor where the impact noise is coming from is your only option. Although soundproofing the ceiling is less effective than a floating/decoupled floor, it still is a good step forwards.

How to soundproof a wall from noisy neighbours
