Absorption and insulation material
Acoustic Cotton Wool is the 'green' alternative to traditional materials such as mineral wool and rock wool. Acoustic Cotton Wool consists of 90% recycled textile (cotton) fibres supplemented with polyester fibres. Some areas of application of this product; cavity filling (acoustic and thermal insulation) for walls and floors, thermal insulation for motorhomes and as acoustic filling for absorption panels.

What it is and does:
Acoustic Cotton Wool is made from recycled textiles, such as clothing that has been fiberized and supplemented with polyester fibres to obtain a flat sheet. The result is a soft, woolly and shape-retaining absorption and insulation material. Acoustic Cotton Wool is used to absorb sound, for example as filling in acoustic absorption panels and as thermal insulation material in retaining walls or in new construction as cavity filling. This product is an ideal alternative to traditional mineral wools (glass and rock wool). Acoustic Cotton Wool is skin-friendly; it does not itch and therefore does not irritate.
Applications
Acoustic Cotton Wool has a firm density of 55 kg/m³ and is used in situations where the product is not visible, some applications are:
- Houses Acoustic and thermal insulation in cavity walls or as filling between wooden floors and walls.
- Yacht and Shipbuilding Between the frames of the ship's hull as thermal insulation and filling of cavities.
- Panel filling
As an absorbent filling for the production of acoustic absorption panels, walls and screens (see also our tips page). - motorhome construction As thermal insulation behind wall panelling and headliner.
Properties
Acoustic Cotton Wool has some unique properties, such as the material is particularly durable and consists of 90% recycled textile (cotton). It is just as friendly to the skin as clothing, and thanks to excellent sound-absorbing and thermal properties this product is particularly versatile in use. The material does not generate dust, contains no chemical binding agents and is 100% recyclable. Other properties of Acoustic Cotton Wool are:
- Dimensions 1000 x 600 x 40 mm.
- Absorption values: D55/40 mm: NRC = 0.95; αw = Absorption class A.
- Fire classification: EN13501-1. Class B/S1/D0.
- Heat-resistant: -30°C to 120°C.
- Dimensionally stable, does not collapse.
- Density: 55 kg/m³.
- Colour: Mixed blue
- Not self-adhesive, to be mounted with Stauf Extreme Tack.
- Tolerance dimensions: max. 10%.
Assembly Tips
Acoustic Cotton Wool does not collapse as long as it is clamped, but if you want to mount it somewhere, use Stauf Extreme Tack. On a surface with an open structure, such as other wool or textile products, use two-sided contact adhesive. Acoustic Cotton Wool can easily be cut to size with a sharp knife.
