Polypress vibration insulation

Polypress vibration insulation foam
Polypress is made of cutting waste, flakes of foam, from all sorts of foam products and available in various density types. This acoustic foam product is used to make Acoustic Studs and Polypress Strips, for decoupling floors, stages, soundproofing walls and ceilings. Polypress can also be used to make a decoupled drum riser. Polypress insulates vibrations and reduces impact noise, which results in a so called floating, decoupled floor or plateau.

To use Polypress as a acoustic underlay to create a decoupled floor, in a studio for example, you also need to purchase a load distributing topping or layer to spread the weight of furniture e.g. For studio floors we recommend to use a double layer of strong fiber plasterboard or plywood. It is also recommend to use a soundproofing layer of Isomat KE between these two layers of sheet material. This layer of extra mass will isolate resonances and result in a more solid and soundproofing floor. You can read more about the applications of the various types of Polypress on the product page and our tips pages about Studio & Hifi.
