Sound insulation for machines and appliances

What is the problem?
Machines with parts that move produce both airborne and impact noise. This can be experienced as nuisance in the shape of a hum or a high sharp frequent noise. Vibration from a device or machine can cause the floor to resonate and the machine to be heard in adjacent rooms, since the sound passes beneath the walls, so to speak. It goes without saying that it is important to find out what type of noise is causing the problem.

What is the solution to airborne noise?
The sound of a machine is called airborne noise and is reduced by placing a housing over the machine. Such a housing can easily be made yourself from heavy sheet material such as Merfoplex or multiplex connected to Isomat TS14. The heavier the housing, the better the result. When making an housing, pay attention to the ventilation of the machine in question.

What is the solution to contact noise?
Impact noise is caused by vibrations of the moving parts of a machine, which can be reduced by decoupling the machine. This can be done with Regufoam vibration isolation. The best way to do this is to lay a number of parts of Regufoam on the floor, with an inflexible plate on top of which the machine is mounted. For larger machines, it is advisable to mail us the technical specifications such as speed, weight and the dimensions of the area where the machine touches the floor, for example support or carrying legs.

In case of large (industrial) machines, it may be necessary to place a concrete slab 'floating' on a product such as Regupol with the machine placed on top of it. Also in this case, please contact us first so that we can calculate a vibration frequency and the right product.
