Improving Acoustics at School

The use of hard materials as part of the interior causes reverberation. Poor acoustics at school mainly affects students with low concentration, teachers, and people with hearing problems. Poor acoustics leads to poor intelligibility, reduced concentration and productivity. But in the long run it may also cause health problems such as stress and fatigue. An investment in improving the acoustics therefore will pay off in the future. On top of this, you improve the well-being of teachers and students.

What is the solution?
The walls are to be blamed for flutter echo, a bright reflection of mid and high frequency sound. Equip at least one third of the back wall of the classroom with absorbent (wall) panels such as a Flamex variant. Covering this wall already gives a good result, since this is the wall that causes the most reverberation.

Since cupboards are often placed against walls there is little space left. In that case, the ceiling will provide a solution. The following products are suitable for this: Soundstone System Ceiling Plates, Baffles and the Flamex product range. If you choose for a ceiling solution only, equip at least 70% of the ceiling with absorbent products.
