Akotherm SF (Smooth Finish) is a sturdy polyester wool panel with an extra high density (40 kg/m³) with smooth finishes on both sides. This type of polyester wool product is perhaps the most beautiful of its kind and is ideally suited to be placed in plain sight to improve the acoustics in a reverberant and noisy room. Akotherm SF can be mounted on walls and ceilings.

How much do I need to improve the acoustics?
Applying absorbent products on walls and/or the ceiling equivalent to 50% of the floor area results in an enormous improvement in the acoustics. The best result is achieved when absorption surfaces are distributed in a room. In practice, however, it often appears that a percentage of +/- 30% already gives a lot of improvement. What it is and does:
Akotherm is the alternative to traditional mineral wools (glass wool and rock wool). Long fibres are made from recycled PET bottles, resulting in an extremely strong and dimensionally stable polyester wool. Akotherm absorbs sound and also provides thermal insulation. Due to the high absorption values, better acoustics are created in rooms where reverberation (reflection of sound) is a problem. Akotherm can also be used as thermal insulation.
Applications
Akotherm SF can be used to improve the acoustics in various rooms and can be used for visual work in, for example, a studio, bedroom and living room. The acoustics in public areas or schools can be improved with Akotherm SF of a thickness of up to 20 mm.
Akotherm SF can be used both indoors and outdoors. The ceiling of the balcony, which often reflects traffic noises, can also be covered with Akotherm SF.
Properties
Akotherm SF has excellent sound-absorbing and thermal properties and is kind to the skin. Contact with the polyester fibres does not pose a risk of allergic reactions, skin irritations or respiratory problems. The material does not generate dust and does not contain chemical binding agents. In addition, it is non-toxic and 100% recyclable. The product can withstand moisture. Other properties of Akotherm SF are:
- Fire class B, drip number D0.
- Heat-resistant.
- Shape stable.
- Density: 40 kg/m³.
- Colour of the product: black or white.
- Dimensions tolerance: max. 10%.
Assembly Tips
Use Stauf Extreme Tack contact adhesive to attach the Akotherm panels. Spread the Stauf adhesive from the corners towards the centre and spread the adhesive in the middle of the panel. With sufficient adhesive, the panel will bond directly to the substrate, no struts or clamps are necessary. Use the sharp knife for minor adjustments to the Akotherm panels.
