Merfotape GW is a masking tape for sealing and decorating seams and cracks between sheets with a GW top layer such as Merfocell GW, Merfocom and Flamex GW. The tape is also suitable for sealing gaps (sound leaks) between, for example, air ducts.

What it is and does:
Merfotape GW is a masking tape with a top layer of Glass Fibre cloth on a rubber-butyl base. The tape is intended to give an attractive finish to the seams between two panels. The tape also seals seams and cracks so that no sound leaks occur and no oil, moisture and dirt can penetrate into the underlying absorption material.
Applications
Merfotape GW is suitable for masking seams for products with a GW top layer, such as Flamex GW, Merfocell GW and Merfocom. The tape is also suitable as a sealing tape, for example for closing gaps between ventilation ducts.
Properties
- adhesive: Rubber butyl, absorbs stretch and shrinkage of the substrate.
- Temperature resistance: -30°C to max. 60°C.
- Fire certification: DIN 4102-B2.
- Size: 15 metres long, 48 mm wide, 0.9 mm thick.
Assembly Tips
Apply Merfotape GW to a dust- and grease-free surface beforehand, at least at room temperature. Do not apply the tape under tension, but apply it gently to the substrate and press firmly on flat parts and do not bend.
Merfotape GW is resistant to temperatures up to ± 60°C, which is lower than the temperature resistance of the products on which you apply the tape. Do not apply tape over engines or other heat sources.
