Merfocom Combination

What it is and does:
Merfocom is a sound absorbing and insulating product. The panel has sound absorption at the front with a sturdy glass fibre top layer (GW). This top layer is heat-resistant, moisture and oil resistant and impact-resistant. Under the sound absorption layer is a layer of Isomat TS sound insulation. On the back of Merfocom is a layer of acoustic foam which is provided with a self-adhesive layer. Due to this composition, a 'double wall' is created when Merfocom is placed. This solution insulates certain noises better than a single layer product.

Applications
Merfocom is used in situations where a combination of sound insulation (increase in mass) and sound absorption (less reflection of sounds against 'hard' walls) is desired. Moreover, the material is very suitable for situations where fire resistance and/or a decorative appearance are desired. An example is the cladding of a generator set housing or walls of an engine room in a yacht.

Properties

• Shock-resistant and heat-resistant glass wool fabric top layer.
• Self-adhesive.
• Dimensions: 1190 x 990 mm and 1000 x 600 mm. Thickness 35 mm.
• Heat-resistant: -40 to +100 ℃.
• Flame-retardant according to FMVSS 302, UL94-HF1. Approved for use in engine rooms of yachts that must bear a CE mark. (Directive ”RL 94/25/EC as amended by RL 2003/44/EC”).
• Weight: ±10 kg/m².

Design of Merfocom panel

Merfocom is a combination panel and consists of the following layers:

• Glass fiber cloth (FC) top layer.
• Absorbent polyurethane foam layer of 25 mm.
• Isomat TS 8 kg/m² soundproofing mass core.
• Polyurethane foam layer of 5 mm for decoupling.
• Self-adhesive back.

Assembly Tips
Merfocom panels are easy to cut to size with a sharp and clean hobby knife. Carefully cut the front of the panel to the core. Then turn the panel over and cut the back deep into the core so that you can snap the core. Provide a dry and grease-free surface. 

When mounting upside down (on hatches or ceilings), you must mechanically fix the panels using Insulation Nails. Use our B-63 Insulation Nails for this. You need 5 adhesive pins for the size 1000 x 600 mm and 10 pieces for the size 1200 x 1000 mm. Place the Insulation Nails on the corners and in the middle of the panel.
