Vibraflex UF | Bitumen Damping

What bitumen damping is and does:
Vibraflex UF is a bitumen damping sheet to insulate resonances and isolate vibrations. In addition to the anti-drumming effect (removing the gong sound from a steel surface), this product also increases the airborne sound insulation. More on anti-drumming on our tip page "Whats is anti-drumming". 

Applications for bitumen damping sheets
Vibraflex UF is an universally applicable insulation material for light structures made of sheet metal, aluminum or polyester. These are materials that can resonate easily when sound hits them or when engery from an engine or propeller is transferred to it. Some examples where you can use Vibraflex bitumen damping sheets: ships hull, partition wall, floor in a vehicle, metal building facade, and so on. We offer various Vibraflex variants with different thicknesses and weight, making this product widely applicable.

• Soundproofing equipment and machinery enclosures
  Vibraflex is often used, in combination with sound absorbers, to insulate (steel) enclosures of pumps, generators and machinery.
• Buildings 
  Vibraflex UF can be used to improve the insulation of parts of a buildings such as: insulating core between two plasterboards, underneath windowsill that catch rain drops, vibrating air ducts and steel facades.
• Automotive, vehicle insulation
  Vibraflex UF can be used in the automotive sector for insulating vehicles reducing driving, exhaust and engine noise.

Which type of Vibraflex to use?

Indicative application to steel thicknesses:

• Vibraflex UF 30 (3 kg/m²):  0.5mm to 1 mm.
• Vibraflex UF 50 (5 kg/m²):    1 mm to 2 mm.
• Vibraflex UF 80 (8 kg/m²):    2 mm to 3 mm.
• Vibraflex UF100 (10 kg/m²): 3 mm to 4 mm.

Indicative application on aluminium thicknesses:

• Vibraflex UF 30 (3 kg/m²):  0.5 mm to 1 mm.
• Vibraflex UF 50 (5 kg/m²):     1 mm to 3 mm.
• Vibraflex UF 80: (8 kg/m²):    3 mm to 4 mm.
• Vibraflex UF100: (10 kg/m²): 4 mm to 6 mm.

To insulate steel surfaces, in vessels for example, for an anti-drumming effect, that exceeds a thickness of 5 mm , it is more effective to use sandwich anti-drumming. This type insulation consists of combination with Vibradamp A-90-P and Zincor Steel Plates.

Properties

• Insulate resonances (reducing gong sound).
• Flame-retardant according to FMVSS302 (types UF50 and UF80).
• Universally applicable.
• Very flexible and self-adhesive.
• Recommended processing temperature minimum: + 5 °C.
• Short-term temperature resistance: -30 °C to +100 °C.
• Long-term temperature resistance: -30 °C to +70 °C.
• Colour: glossy black.
