Insulating the outboard engine

Outboard engine noiseOutboard engine
The noise of an outboard engine is usually quite prominent in pleasure crafts, resulting in a lot of noise while driving a boat, especially on longer trips this gets very annoying. We do not recommend insulating the engines cover. There is not enough space for a product to make a real difference and temperatures can get high close to engine it self.

How to insulate an outboard engine?
You can reduce the amount of outboard engine noise when the engine is mounted in the stern, or transom, under a cover and between side walls. By seamlessly providing the cover and side walls with an absorption material you can reduces the noise significantly. Use an acoustic absorber with a protective moisture proof top layer such as Acousticcell PU in combination with our PU Finishing Tape

Tip
We have all kinds of solutions to insulate pleasure crafts and any other kind of vessel on our Boats & Yachts Tips pages. Questions about boat insulation? Just send us an email, we are happy to help you.
