How to insulate a vehicle floor

By insulating the floor of a vehicle you can solve many noise problems at once. The floor of almost any vehicle is one, if not the most, important part to insulate. Many vibrations and noises from the engine, exhaust, wheels and air, that is forced underneath the vehicle while driving, are distributed via the floor. To isolate the cabin, to keep noise and vibrations out, you need to apply anti-drumming a insulating products inside the cabin.

Products to soundproof and insulate the floor
Insulating the floor of a car or camper van, of any vehicle really, is quite easy. First step is to remove the interior and upholstery. Next step, and the most important step, is applying an anti-drumming product with a weight of 8 kg/m², Vibraflex Extreme, or Vibraflex UF 80. Clean the floor very thoroughly with a degreaser, brake cleaner for example. Make sure that the Vibraflex sheets are warm enough and apply them like a sticker. Avoid air to get trapped between surface and sheets. Use our pressure roller to do this.

Extra soundproofing for vehicle floor and cabin
You can use the existing upholstery to finish the Vibraflex but for extra insulation and finishing touch you can also use Isomat FM, a sound insulating floor mat.
