Acoustic Cotton Wool insulation is a great alternative to traditional insulation materials such as glass wool and mineral wool. Cotton Wool insulation consists of 85% recycled cotton supplemented with polyester fibres. Some application examples of cotton insulation are cavity filling, sound and thermal insulation for soundproofing a ceiling or wall. Thermal insulation for boats and campervans. Also great a an acoustic filling for acoustic panels because of it's amazing sound absorbing properties.

What is cotton insulation:
Acoustic Cotton Wool is an insulation material made from recycled textiles, such as jeans hence the blue colour. Supplemented with polyester fibres to obtain a firm, yet flexible sheet. The result is a soft, woolly and sound absorbing and insulating material. Cotton Wool is used to absorb sound, for example as a filling in acoustic panels and thermal insulation material in ceiling, floor or walls as a cavity filling. Cotton insulation is an ideal alternative to traditional glass wool. it's friendly to the touch, and does not itch or irritate.
Applications of cotton insulation
Acoustic Cotton Wool has a firm density of 55 kg/m³, double the amount of regular cotton wool an therefore a bit more expansive. Higher density is better performance. Some application examples are:
- Boat, yacht and ship insulation
Between the frames of the ship's hull for thermal insulation. - Campervan and motorhome
As thermal insulation behind wall panelling and headliner. - Acoustic panel filling
Great to use as an acoustic filling in acoustic panels and bass traps. - Homes
To insulate and soundproof a ceiling, floor or wall.
Cotton Wool Properties
Acoustic Cotton Wool insulation has some unique properties. It's particularly durable and consists of 85% recycled textile. Friendly to the touch, just as clothing, and thanks to excellent sound-absorbing and thermal properties particularly versatile in use. Cotton wool contains no chemical binding agents and is 100% recyclable. Acoustic Cotton Wool properties:
- Sound absorption: NRC = 0.95; αw = Class A.
- Fire classification: EN13501-1. Class B/S1/D0.
- Heat-resistant: -30°C to +120°C.
- Density: 55 kg/m³.
- Not self-adhesive, mount with Stauf Extreme Tack.
- Tolerance dimensions: max. 10%.
Assembly Tips
Acoustic Cotton Wool can be processed with a long sharp insulation knife and mounted with Stauf Extreme Tack.
