Improving acoustics in industrial halls

What is the problem?
A common, but often recognized problem is poor acoustics in a company production hall or workshop. Loud machines are often used and the space mainly contains hard materials such as steel, concrete and glass. Too much reverberation in a room has many disadvantages. It causes stress, poor intelligibility and reduces concentration. This leads to fatigue, reduced productivity and a higher chance of errors. In extreme cases, this can lead to dangerous situations or even industrial accidents. What is the solution?
There is no standard measure for the amount of sound absorption to be applied in a company or factory hall. The room acoustics in a company hall are often good if one and a half to 2 seconds can be reduced from the reverberation time. In halls with a large volume (high ceilings, large floor space) you will need more square meters of absorption surface than in low volume space such as an office. You will notice an improvement when you apply 50% of the ceiling surface as absorption material. However, for large halls, that percentage will be more towards 80%.

You can equip a company or production hall with Baffles(vertical hanging elements) or acoustic panels such as Akotherm Basic or from Akotherm Basic D40 for slightly more efficiency. Baffles hang vertically from the ceiling and absorb (interrupt) the path of the sound and are therefore very effective. Baffles are usually suspended from brackets, cables or quick hangers. The most efficient is to install 1 Baffle per 1.5 m². Acoustic panels are fixed horizontally to the ceiling with staples or mounting paste, depending on the type of ceiling.
