Acousticcell ALU
Sound insulation, heat-reflecting top layer
Acousticcell Alu is a sound insulation acoustic foam sheet made of polyurethane foam. This acoustic foam product is provided with an oil, moisture and heat-resistant aluminium top layer. The aluminium top layer is reinforced with an fibre mesh that adds rigidity to the product. Use Acousticcell Alu to reduce engine noise in an engine room, or engine compartment, of a pleasure craft or ship. And to insulate machine and generator enclosures.
Suitable for:
Soundproofing engine rooms, or engine compartment, in boats and pleasure crafts. Car and campervan engine bays, up to 100°C.
Less suitable for:
Curved surfaces, because of the relative rigid top layer with reinforced aluminium foil.

What it is and does:
Acousticcell Alu is a product that you use to repel heat and insulate, or soundproof, engine and machine noise. Acousticcell products are made of polyurethane acoustic foam. The aluminium protective top layer repels oil, moisture and heat. This aluminium foil top layer is reinforced with an fibre mesh inlay that adds strength to the top layer and acoustic foam sheet. Acousticcell can therefore only be used on a flat surfaces.
Applications
You can use Acousticcell Alu for soundproofing an engine room or engine bay in boats and yachts, generators and machine enclosures, and to soundproof the engine bay or bonnet of a vehicle. The aluminium top layer has the additional advantage that it reflects light. This is useful in a dark engine room and it looks nice too.

- Fire certification: flame-retardant according to ASTM D-1692-68, FMVSS 302, Class E.
- Self-adhesive, easy to process.
Processing tips
You can easily cut Acousticcell Alu sound insulation to size with a hobby knife. Before mounting the panels, make sure the surface is clean and free of grease. Tape the seams with Isotape Alu. This prevents sound leakage and the ingress of liquids.
