Insulations for light materials/wood
Isomat TS is a heavy insulation board for insulating (increasing the weight of) light structures such as doors, panels, hatches, machine and engine housings, walls and floors. When the mass of a surface, for example a door leaf, is doubled, the noise problem can be reduced by up to 50%. Isomat TS is also suitable for pleasure craft applications such as hatches, floors and polyester hulls and walls. The product has a smooth but industrial appearance. Available in weight class of 8 and 14 kg/m².More information
What it is and does:
Isomat TS is a sound insulation mat that keeps airborne noise and resonance either indoors or outdoors. Isomat TS heavy panels increase the weight of a substrate, such as a door or wall, which drastically increases the sound insulation. In most cases, at least 8 dB(A) attenuation is already achieved with this mat without additional measures! This is often experienced as halving the noise level.
Isomat TS has been developed for insulating:
For the acoustic insulation of, among other things, wood and plaster walls and floors. You can also use Isomat TS to insulate existing doors. On our Tips page you will find the Step-by-step plan for door insulation.
- Pleasure boating
For example, for insulating the polyester ship hull against the resonance of the propeller noise and against cavitation. But you can also easily insulate (light) doors and hatches on yachts with Isomat TS. In the engine compartment you use a combination with absorption products such as Acusticab and Merfocell GW. You can also insulate the floor of the wheelhouse and the walls of the engine compartment by increasing the mass with Isomat TS 8 (8 kg/m²) or the Isomat TS14 (14 Kg/m²).
- Studio & HiFi
Apply Isomat TS14 in loudspeaker and subwoofer housing. The resonances in these housings are then greatly reduced and the loudspeaker will transmit music fuller and more cleanly. The heavier and stiffer the speaker the better. This also applies to the Hifi furniture, more about this on our tips page.
Isomat TS is made of EVA copolymers and mineral fillers. These are heavy, but thin, panels that take up little space. Isomat is quite stiff and can therefore only be applied to flat and slightly curved surfaces. Note: the greatest reductions are obtained if the substrate on which Isomat TS is applied is not heavier than the insulation board itself.
Isomat is easy to cut to size with a hobby knife. You cut the sheet twice and break it on this line. Then apply contact adhesive to the panel and the surface and let it harden for a while. Then press the Isomat panel firmly into place, without trapping air bubbles. If the panel is mounted upside down, use screws with washers on the corners. We recommend the Zettex contact adhesive with adjustable nozzle for the application of Isomat TS. One spray can is good for about 2 m² (double-sided application).
Difference with Isomat KE
Isomat KE is the 'bulk variant' in the Isomat series. You get a more economical price per square metre. The Isomat KE sheets have a slightly different composition. This product is suitable for the same applications as the Isomat TS variant. We mainly recommend Isomat KE for floors, walls and sandwich constructions.
