Merfocom Combination

What it is and does:
Merfocom is a soundproofing and sound insulation product. The panel has a sound insulation as a front side, with a sturdy glass fibre fabric top layer (FC). This top layer is heat-resistant, moisture, oil and impact-resistant. Underneath the sound insulation is a layer of Isomat, a mass loaded vinyl core. On the back of Merfocom panel there is a layer of acoustic foam, provided with a self-adhesive. Due to this composition, a 'double wall' is created when Merfocom is placed. This product insulates and soundproofs low frequent noise, such as a diesel engine, better than a single layer product.

Applications
Merfocom is used in situations where a combination of soundproofing (the addition of mass) and sound insulation (absorbing noise) is desired. Mostly in boats with lightweight engine compartment covers, walls or hatches, such as engine cover in sail boats. Moreover, Merfocom Combination is very suitable for situations where heat resistance, in small and tight engine rooms, or when a decorative appearance are desired, in luxurious yachts for example.

Properties

• Shock-resistant and heat-resistant glass wool fabric top layer.
• Self-adhesive.
• Dimensions: 1190 x 990 mm and 1000 x 600 mm. Thickness 35 mm.
• Heat-resistant: -40 to +100 ℃.
• Flame-retardant according to FMVSS 302, UL94-HF1. Approved for use in engine rooms of yachts that must bear a CE mark. (Directive ”RL 94/25/EC as amended by RL 2003/44/EC”).
• Weight: ±10 kg/m².

Design of Merfocom panel

Merfocom is a combination panel and consists of the following layers:

• Fibreglass cloth (FC) top layer.
• Sound insulation of polyurethane acoustic foam layer of 25 mm.
• Isomat TS 8 kg/m² soundproofing mass core.
• Polyurethane acoustic foam layer of 5 mm for decoupling.
• Self-adhesive backing.

Assembly Tips
Merfocom panels are easy to cut to size with a sharp and clean hobby knife. Carefully cut the front of the panel to the core. Then turn the panel over and cut the back deep into the core so that you can snap the core. Provide a dry and grease-free surface. When mounting Merfocom panels upside down (to a hatch or ceiling), you must mechanically fix the panels using Insulation Pins. You need 5 adhesive pins for a small panel and 10 pieces for large panels. Place the Insulation Nails on the corners and in the middle of the panel.
