Aluglass
Heat-resistant engine insulation
Aluglass is a heat-resistant, thermal and sound insulating product with a self-adhesive backing. This fiberglass insulation product has a cross stitching, to make the product sturdy, and an aluminium foil top layer. Aluglass is ideal for insulating small engine compartments, such outboard engine covers, tight engine compartments and firewall/bulkhead in vehicles with high temperatures. Aluglass is an excellent alternative to combustible foam products.

What it is and does:
Aluglass is a self-adhesive, thermally insulating and sound-absorbing sheet. The product is made of a quilted fiberglass mat with a sturdy aluminium foil top layer. Use Aluglass if you have any doubts about the heat resistance of absorption foam in your situation.
Applications
Aluglass is used in small spaces where the temperatures are too high to use an acoustic foam. Areas of application are, for example, engine compartments of vehicles, boats and yachts, heat shield for firewall/bulkhead in a car or the engine cover in a vehicle cabin (as in older Mercedes buses). Aluglass can also be used as an insulating material to insulate heat in a boiler casing. When the surrounding temperature exceed the heat-resistance of the self-afhesive backing, ± 70°C, Aluglass should also be mounted mechanically with insulation nails or screws and rings.
Properties
- Easy to process.
- Temperature resistance: max. 470 °C (+/- 12 °C) (according to STN ISO 871: 2010).
- Self-adhesive, self-adhesive layer withstands up to 70°C.
Assembly Tips
Aluglass is easy to cut to size with a sharp knife. At temperatures above 70 to 80°C we recommend a mechanical attachment with, for example, insulation Pins. Tape the ends and joints between the Aluglass panel with Alu Finishing Tape. It is recommended to wear protective clothing, gloves, when processing this fiberglass mat.
