Merfocell PU
Sound Insulation Foam, PU Top Layer
Merfocell PU sound insulation is made from polyurethane acoustic foam. The product has an oil, dirt and moisture-proof top layer of PU foil. Merfocell is mainly used to soundproof engine rooms and machine and equipment enclosures. Merfocell is self-adhesive and has a CE certificate. Available in a thickness of 25 and 50 mm.

What it Merfocell sound insulation
Merfocell PU is a sound-absorbing insulation products made of polyurethane foam with a PU top layer (polyurethane film). This top layer protects the acoustic foam against the ingress of moisture, dirt and oil. The colour of the foam is anthracite. The colour of the PU top layer is black.
Applications
Merfocell PU is used, among other things, to insulate sound in- and from engines in generator and compressor enclosures, in ships and pleasure crafts engine compartments. This product can also be used to insulate the bonnet of a car, bus or campervan. Our advice for applications near combustion engines: keep at least 8 to 10 cm space between hot parts of an engine and the Merfocell PU sheet. For diesel engines, use the thickest type of 50 mm. The thicker the material, the better the insulation properties. Does heat play an above-average role? Then use Merfocell FC or Flamex FC (only te be sued on flat surfaces).

Assembly Tips
Clean the surface on which it is to be mounted on very thoroughly and ensure as few seams and gaps as possible during installation. Use PU Finishing Tape to mask these potential sound leaks and seams to avoid intrusion of moisture, dirt and oil.
Similar products with a PU top layer
Merfocell PU is comparable to products such as Acousticcell PU. Acousticcell PU is finished with a black or white PU top layer. Flamex PU has a base of a more heat-resistant foam material, but can only be mounted on a flat surface. Flamex acoustic foam is more rigid than other sound insualtion foam products and has a heat resistance up to 100°c.
