How much anti-drumming sheets do I need for a good result?
In order to properly dampen (insulate) vibrations in sheet metal, the mass of the surface should ideally be doubled. In order to effectively isolate vibrations, resonances, and therefore sound, provide at least 70% of the surface with Vibraflex. For applications in vehicles, for example the bodywork, boot or wheel arches, it's better to soundproof the whole surface. These parts produce contact and airborne noise, so more soundproofing is recommend. To soundproof the doors of a car the 70% rules is sufficient.

What is anti-drumming and what is does:
Vibraflex Normal and Extreme are sets of bitumen, anti-drumming and sound deadener sheets, especially intend to isolate the gong effect in sheet metal, steel, aluminium and plastics. Anti-drumming, such as Vibraflex, is the isolation vibrations by holding a firm grip on these materials, which prevent vibrations and resonances, this eliminates the gong effect. The result is what we call, insulation or soundproofing. 

Which type of sound deadener do I choose?
There are two types of Vibraflex available in boxes, handy and easy to use sheets, Vibraflex Normal and Extreme. We recommend to following types to use:

• Vibraflex Normal
  These anti-drumming sheets weigh 5 kg/m², used on vertical parts of thin/light sheet metal, steel, aluminium or plastic. For example in car doors and side panels. This product can also be used in steel machine enclosures, in combination with a sound absorber, and aluminium or steel equipment housing, with thickness of up to approx. 2 mm.
• Vibraflex Extreme
  This variant weighs 8 kg/m² and is used on slightly angled and horizontal surfaces, such as the bodywork, floor, bulkhead and wheel arches. This type can be applied to a metal thickness of up to approx. 3.5 mm.

Assembly Tips
Make sure that the surface to be insulated is clean and de-greased. Vibraflex is best processed at room temperature or just above. You can use a paint stripper or hair dryer to heat the material and make it more flexible. Do not make the Vibraflex too hot, the material must be able to be applied with bare hands. Avoid air bubbles between the Vibraflex and the surface. Tip: Use our Vibraflex Pressure Roller to easily apply the sheets. Vibraflex in vehicles is often combined with Isomat FM, an soundproofing car floor mat.
